Title of Post doc fellowship:

Low-toxic cost-efficient environment-friendly santifouling materials.

About the research:

The Byefouling research project is enabling for development of new antifouling coatings  and products that will increase the efficiency of marine industry. The research  takes place in Eilat, which provides unique environmental conditions for conducting a research upon different stages of antifouling properties and biofouling processes.

Title of M.Sc. thesis:

Octocoral community structure at Eilat (Northern Red Sea): mesophotic vs. shallow reefs

Title of Ph.D. thesis:

Ecology and energetics of mesophotic soft corals (Octocorallia), in the northern Red Sea.

About the research:

My research focuses on the understudied mesophotic zone of the Eilat coral reefs. Analyzing data recovered by SCUBA and ROV we try to elucidate the community structure and species composition from the shallow reef down to the end of the mesophotic zone (~150 m) along a depth gradient that until now was mostly overlooked.

Title of M.Sc. thesis:

Settlement of coral planulae under flow: field and laboratory studies (jointly with Prof. G. Zilman).

About the research:

Experimental approaches to visualize and model planulae behavior in flow around group of cylindrical rods. The thesis combined field survey of Dendronepthya hemprichi coral colonies settlement on group of man-made steel pillars at the Red-Sea, Gulf of Aqaba, and laboratory experiments with coral planulae in flow chamber in controled, laminar flow.

Toxicity of novel anti-macrofouling compounds: are they environmentally friendly?

About the research:

Ecotoxicity research as part of the BYEFOULING project. Examination of the effects of new compounds on aquatic organisms at the laboratory and at their environment. The ecotoxicity tests are conducted at the light of the BYEFOULING project in order to find eco friendly coatings for marin vehicles.

Life history of Eilat mesophotic octocorals

About the research:
My thesis focus is about mesophotic octocoral reproduction. Mesophotic coral ecosystems (MCE) are found from 30m depth untill the photic zone limits, MCEs may represent a remarkably large area that is poorly studied and highly important for the structure and vulnerabillty of the entire coral ecosystem,
